On Thursday the 17th August our prep students headed to Edendale Farm for their very first school excursion. The students participated in a number of different activities, including being able to visit and feed all the farm animals on site (including the new baby lambs!) The students took part in workshops where they learnt about the habitats of many native Australian animals and what they can do to help preserve their environment. They were introduced to the very special Eltham Copper Butterfly and performed in a dress up parade celebrating the life cycle of the local insect. To finish up, they each decorated a cotton bag by using hammers to transfer the natural dyes in leaves and flowers to create a beautiful pattern. The preps returned back to school brimming with excitement and also thoroughly exhausted after such a fun day of learning, with some declaring it “the best day of school ever”.
